Job Description

The Registered Nurse I is an entry-level nursing professional responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to patients. As a graduate of the College of Nursing and Allied Health, the RN I applies foundational nursing knowledge and clinical skills under supervision while adhering to professional, ethical, and legal standards of nursing practice.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions
  • Monitor and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with hospital policies
  • Assist in medical procedures and collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members
  • Maintain accurate and timely nursing records and reports
  • Educate patients and families on health conditions, medications, and post-care instructions
  • Observe infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance standards
  • Respond promptly to patient needs, emergencies, and changes in condition
  • Participate in orientation, training programs, and continuing professional development
  • Uphold ethical standards, patient confidentiality, and professional conduct at all times

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Graduate of a College of Nursing and Allied Health
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (or eligible for licensure, depending on institution policy)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required); ACLS is an advantage
  • Knowledge of fundamental nursing principles and patient care practices
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work under supervision and follow clinical protocols
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
