Research Project Manager

About Candidate

My name is Danielle Perez and for over a decade I worked both in-person and remotely for NOAA’s Northwest Fisheries Science Center. For 10 years I worked with the Ocean Acidification group exploring ecosystem impacts of the changes in marine chemistry caused by the ocean uptake of anthropogenic CO2. Last year, as experiments in our lab were winding down, I transitioned into a position as a Project Manager, still within the NWFSC where I helped implement and facilitate various projects around the Center, as well as writing and editing any necessary documentation.
In my years with NOAA, both as a research assistant and project manager, I’ve collaborated with other labs and agencies to conduct workshops, organize meetings, troubleshoot experimental issues, and write documentation for journal publication. While our core group was small, we had many interns and students through the years that I was responsible for training and often had to supervise. For each iteration of our projects, I was able to contribute thoughts and ideas as we were planning the initial phases. Each procedure required constant collection and management of several large data sets and a pivotal part of my responsibilities was tracking all progress, diligently noting any issues or updates, and writing reports on findings. At the culmination, I assisted with parts of the writing process, drafting and editing several policy directives and SOPs.
