Mainframe Network Engineer (Remote)
Job Description
We are hiring an experienced Mainframe Network Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize mainframe systems and enterprise networks in a fully remote work environment. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of z/OS networking, SNA, TCP/IP protocols, and mainframe connectivity to ensure optimal system performance, reliability, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot mainframe network infrastructure, ensuring high availability.
- Support z/OS Communications Server, VTAM, TCP/IP stacks, and network security protocols.
- Monitor network performance, resolve latency issues, and implement enhancements.
- Collaborate with systems programmers, application teams, and IT operations to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Maintain disaster recovery plans for network operations.
- Apply network security best practices, including firewall configurations and encryption protocols.
- Prepare technical documentation and system diagrams for operational processes.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mainframe Network Engineer or z/OS Network Specialist.
- Expertise in IBM mainframe networking, SNA, and TCP/IP in mainframe environments.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as NetView, Wireshark, or SolarWinds.
- Strong understanding of network security and compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and remote collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
