Job Description

Amazon is a leading company focused on innovation and operational excellence. They are seeking a Research Science intern to apply optimization and machine learning techniques to enhance decision-making processes in their fulfillment, logistics, and supply chain operations.


Develop and apply optimization, causal inference, and time series modeling techniques to drive operational efficiencies and improve decision-making across Amazon’s fulfillment, logistics, and supply chain operations

Design and implement scalable algorithms and data structures to support complex optimization systems

Leverage statistical methods and machine learning to uncover insights and patterns in large-scale operations data

Prototype and validate new approaches through rigorous experimentation and analysis

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams of researchers, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate research outputs into tangible business impact

Required

Are enrolled in a PhD in operations research, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, or equivalent

Can relocate to where the internship is based

Must be available for full-time (40 hours per week) internship for the whole duration of the internship

Preferred

Experience in causal modeling like graphical models, causal Bayesian network, potential outcomes, A/B testing, experiments, quasi-experiments, and data science workflows

Experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
